Ooo...

Do you wanna know where my blog title came from?
It's a very, very special word you know!

Snarkie!

It sounds like things that I like, such as 'spark,' and 'shark,' and 'far...' um. Nevermind.
So I combined all of them and it became Snark!

But Snark sounded horrible (somehow it brought me visions of Professor Snape with three rows of regrowable teeth = =) so I added the end of my name to it.

Snark + Stephanie = Snarkie!

(Snarkanie is SO not a good idea, don't you think?)

Plus things that end in -ie are always cute!

Strawberrie!
Bunnie!

Rosies!

Right? Riiiiiight? And like, I'm so cute, so it totally matches my personality, cause like, my blog is the window into my soul, right? Totally. Hey wait, I think those were eyes...

***

BULL!

A
Neopets moderator had the name and I thought it was cool, so I ripped it off, k?

Snarkie is derived from the word 'snarky' which means a person who gives lots of snide remarks. (Ring any bells, people?)

Snide + Remark = Snark

Easy?

Yah.

So coming up with my blog title is wayyy easier than it was for some people, ie. Yi Ling.
=x
See her old blog was called er...zz I forgot.

Hold on, lemme check.

Oh yes! It was
Drrr...rrruumm, with the url of brainsuck.

So I was giving all sorts of nonsense suggestions like brainless, drumsuck, drumstick, mophead blablabla...

(actually no I didn't, I just made it up 2 seconds ago but whatever)

In the end I got fed up and left Yi Ling to come up with a brilliant suggestion of her own.

And behold, DRUMINESE was born!

*cue lights, French horns, applause, confetti et cetera*

Her love of her life: Drums

+

The hate of her life: Chinese (the language, but I'm just guessing =/)

= Druminese!

See?

So much
thought and effort into creating a blog name.
The blog name that will go on to define you as a person.

The alias under which you release all your tantrums, sadness, joy and bitchiness...

Is it not important?
Do you agree not with me?

Ok,

so DON'T RIP OFF SOMEONE ELSE's BLOG TITLE, YOU BITCH!

Especially that of someone you know.

And don't give me that 'you did it too, you hypocrite!' shit.
It is fairly commonly used in pop culture, so there.
If you haven't heard of it before, think: Frog. In the well. Way down at the bottom.
*snarl*

(And please, I beseech you, don't be too offended, I call my beloved darlings bitches, too. ^^)

Rawr!

Internet deprivation is a mental illness

My internet got cut off last Wednesday.
I came home and the modem just stared unblinkingly at me.

Well of COURSE it was unblinking - none of the lights were on, save for the power. = =

Anyway shortly after that, I became irritable and restless.
Then on Sunday morning I started feeling sick. Really, physically sick.
Sunday afternoon I started having a sore throat.
Monday morning it was full-blown flu.

I swear, I was the only person in the damned hall who was sneezing.
And sniffling.
And clearing my throat.
I think some people wanted to kill me for disturbing their Add Maths paper. =/

(Heyhey, to satisfy you evil people, I myself was unable to finish the paper, ok? *sick*)

Then Monday, after a LONG and ANNOYING process, the internet was fixed.

And hey presto, immediately my sniffling stopped!
My mood lifted.
My throat even felt less dry.
(But my head still felt light.)

And today I am nearly completely cured. ^^

I should sue TMnet for mental distress during a stressful period.

= =

My Add Maths and Sejarah paper = guaranteed fail.
I was unable to study over the weekend and Monday...thus resulting in me facing my Sejarah paper with only 3 chapters stored in my brain.

ARGHHH!!!

***

TMnet is hopeless.

They sent this guy over who promptly replaced the modem and was like 'TADAH it works now!'

It didn't.

He scratched his head and went around with this giant calculator-like machine to check the phone lines.

He then told me that I'd need to buy a splitter (microfilter) for the phone line because it was interrupting and disconnecting my internet.

I pointed out that my internet didn't work AT ALL, not that it was 'disrupted.'

He said fine, he'll go replace the port.

I informed him that the report was just replaced yesterday morning, but he said he'd try anyway. (I think he just wanted to get out of the house and away from my fury-radiating self.)

So he changed the port and called me.

"Sudah baiki. You cuba connect?"
"Ok."

10 seconds later.

"Masih rosak."
"Oh begitu, I tak boleh buat apa-apa. You panggil orang komputer datang periksa Network Card computer you."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

"Ok. Terima kasih..."

For nothing, I wanted to add.

So in conclusion, I waited 5 days - making calls everyday through my mom's poor secretary as my phone REFUSED to connect to TM's hotline - for him to tell me there's NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MODEM?

WTF!

So we called Dell.
They made me do the same thing as TM - run diagnostics and ping my IP.

Ping my IP!
I told them it worked, and they were like 'please tell us the packet loss rate blablabla...'

"There is 0% percent packet loss, ok? The ping went through."

Z, I'm not completely noob ok.
They were so condescending I felt like skewering them with a blunt pitchfork.
After 1 hour of holding the line and fiddling with some settings...

...they told me THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY NETWORK CARD and would I please call TMnet instead?

WTF x2!

Z. Leaving me with no choice, I called TM personally. (Gotta give Auntie Catherine a break)

And the call went through!
Miracle!

And this guy with a hot ang-moh accent patiently told me that my internet had been connected for over 2 hours.

Swt. -.-;

"But I cannot browse the internet..."
"Ok, hold on, let me check."

*waits*

"Your connection appears to have hung from our end. Please switch off your modem, unplug all the cables and I will terminate the connection. Then replug all the cables and turn on your modem and then you should be able to browse the internet!"
"Ooooh okay, thanks! Kay, I'll call back if there's any problem."
"Ok, thank you for calling TMnet!"
"Mmhmm..."

I scuttled off to do what he said and...presto!

...It didn't connect.

.
.
.

Reaching the limit of my patience, I called TMnet again, and got this guy who sounded like an SPM graduate working part-time (can they even hire part-timers?) - don't ask me how I could tell.

"I'm having a problem with my internet. It's connected but I can't browse."
"Please check your firewall, is it turned off?"
"Yeah. I think so..."
"Think so? You'd better check. Because if it's turned off then OBVIOUSLY you can browse the internet."
"Wait let me make sure...hold on, I'll find the thing..."
"I thought you said you turned it off? *snort*"
"...It is turned off."
"Are you sure?"
"YES I'm sure."
"Ok please turn off your modem, unplug the cables blablabla..."

Snarling, I did as he said.

"Is it working now?"
"Oh. It is. I dunno, the TMnet people who came just now couldn't fix it, so they asked me to call TM technical services..."
"They couldn't fix it? Were they TMnet people or telekom people?"
"TMnet."
"Are you sure it's our people? And they couldn't fix it? You didn't let a stranger in your house did you? Nowadays you know..."

I cut him off.

"Ok, it's working now thank you. But the lights are blinking...is anything wrong?"
"There are blinking lights?"

OMG I WANTED TO KILL HIM SO, SO MUCH.

He said it like one would say,

"Ok, how many fingers am I holding up now? Five? Are you sure? I think you're drunk."

Or

"Yes honey, I see the fairies too...Ok, I think you've had enough champagne now..."

"Yes, the LAN and ADSL one."
"They can't be blinking, cause OBVIOUSLY you're browsing the internet and it is IMPOSSIBLE to browse the internet while the link is unstable."
"... It's blinking."

You asshole, I wanted to add.

"Are you sure?"
"YES!"

Then it promptly stopped blinking.

"Oh. It stopped."
"See? Told you!"

I could almost see the gleeful smirk on his face.

GOD you have NO IDEA how much I wanted to kill him.

That sarcasm...zz it hurts.

'Why didn't you kill him with your own brand of sarcasm? '
I hear you asking.

...I was SICK ok? Please forgive my docile-ness.
Zzz... if I was in full form, I'd rip his brain out through the phone and shove it up his anus.

.
.
.

God I hate TMnet.

How to get away with sleeping in class

1. Bring a sweater

When you are wearing a sweater on a not-particularly-cold day, people will assume you are feeling chilly and on the verge of a cold/fever and (hopefully) leave you alone for fear of contracting your disease.

2. Look as unkempt as possible

Have your hair falling over your face, and your glasses sliding down your nose - as if you were too sick to bother with your appearance this morning. (Well, I look like that almost everyday =/)

3. Don't look guilty

If you wake up suddenly and find teacher glaring at you, just put on a miserable-/apologetic- looking face and flop back down on the table weakly.

4. Fake it, if you have to

My Bio teacher disturbed my delicious nap by saying 'STEPHANIE?' really loudly.

"Are you not feeling well?"
"Huh? Oh..."

*clutches abdomen and puts on a pained look*

"No...cramps ah, teacher...cramps..."
"Oh okay, okay..."

*collapses back on the table and resumes sleep*
*throws in a few lame-sounding coughs to complete the picture*

She left me alone. =/

***

Of course, it always helps if you were skinny and pale-looking as well.

It works!
^^ I slept for 5 periods straight in school yesterday!
Lol. And not once did I get scolded!
Miracle!

But I WAS having slight cramps - not bad enough to pass out on the table, but whatever. Abuse it if I have to. (Thank you so much for letting me get away with it, teacher =D)

I was really really, exhausted. -.- I still can't believe that my Chem, Sejarah and Bio teachers didn't tick me off about it. o_O

I love school! (If it means constant naptime, haha)

I wanted to really go all the way and sleep through the periods after recess as well, but it was EST period, and you know how she is. -.-

She was complaining about how my essay on Organic vs Conventional Food wasn't up to scratch. I was bloody shocked to see that she gave me a freaking 21/30 for that!

That piece of crap!
Hahaha!

I'm not trying to make excuses for my shoddy work - it's just that I did that essay at 12.30 am in like 15 minutes, because I really couldn't be bothered. I mean ok, it's not complete shit, but I didn't really put any effort into it at all.

And dear teacher HAD to comfort her 'star' student (OMFG she actually called me that in front of the class - mortification set in immediately =='') by teaching her exactly HOW to write an EST essay.

Omgomgomgomgomg!
She taught me how to match up points (even if they were barely relevant,) use sentence connectors (==) and to put additional information where the examiner can SEE them.

Like wtf, aren't they supposed to read the whole essay??

She kept asking me where my elaborations were...and I pointed to the sentence right after the point given, (ok, my sentence are kinda chiong hei sometimes) and she said:

"You should put the elaboration nearer to the point! You never know what examiner you might get...if the examiner is lazy, he may not see your elaboration etcetc..."

Does that mean she's calling herself lazy? o_O

Ok, I really DO appreciate her taking the time to teach me all this stuff, but really, I had cramps at that time and needed to sit down, ok? (Needless to say, I wasn't in a very good mood either)

PLUS, as she was talking, she was spewing spittle all over my book!
Like DAMN, that is DISGUSTING!

I am not kidding you.
And this isn't even the first time. (My text book had already been victimised.)
But there was more spit then, I guess, because she was worked up over my crappy homework.

I kept wincing every time my book got showered with (huge) droplets of saliva.

But she kept on talking affectionately, and at one point tried to pat my hand sympathetically.

My eyes widened in horror, and I automatically jerked my hand away from hers, then realised how rude it must have looked and immediately pretended that I felt a sudden urge to scratch my shoulder. *whistles*

I looked up at my class every now and then to plead for helpppp (her lecture was seemingly endless) and B, Sui and Anis just looked at me with 'THANK GOD I'M NOT YOU' looks.

*Fine*

And you know what the worst thing is?
I HAVE TO REDO THE WHOLE FUCKING ESSAY!
ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I swear, I'm not gonna hand in sloppy work for EST anymore.
The punishment is just too much for me to handle. T.T

Hey! Maybe she suspected that in the first place and PLANNED to torture me this way?
Nah, I don't think she's THAT observant (did she notice my messy handwriting and tons of cancellations?) ...though I think she'd certainly be malicious enough. =/
