Shiny no more T_T

My GGC gold membership ended today.
cry

No more getting into rooms without waiting.
No more *superior* stand-out gold font!
No more numerical pings. (I loved this, I don't know for what reason neutral)
No more being at the top of the list! (Ok, I couldn't really see this function so nevermind...)
No more double exp. sad
No more 100 friend limit! eek
Now I have to delete buddies until there are only 49 left before I can add a new friend. ZZZ.

crycrycry

My cute Joshie said he'll buy me one the next time he goes to 7-11 but I wouldn't let him.
It was bad enough that Nick stole his to give it to me first, and besides, I can't let a little boy buy me presents for no reason now, can I? wink

Maybe I'll *hinthint* to Lim.
mrgreen Bwahaha.

If all else fails...10 more months until my next birthday!
But then I'll be in Aussie so no GGC anyway.mad

*sigh*

It was nice while it lasted...

*flees*

Okay, before Nicky drowns me with more of his cheesy lovey-dovey lines, let's get serious.

I've FINALLY bought Battle Royale with 68 ringgit from DEN'S Borders card.
Lol. Have to pay her back though. =(

I finished the first 3 volumes (compiled into one hardcover book) on the same day of my purchase. I couldn't put it down.

Violence, sex and gore.

What's there not to love?

I've been interested in this manga ever since I read its review AGES ago.
The synopsis isn't too shabby either.

Basically, a class of 42 9th graders are spirited away onto an island to compete on a government-sanctioned reality show.

There are very few rules, among which are:

- Kill or be killed
- Each person is given a random weapon - ranging from crossbows to shotguns to forks (WTF)
- Any attempt to escape the island will be punished by death
- If there is more than one survivor after three days, everyone remaining will be killed by way of remote-detonating collars

There can only be one winner.

So basically, you have to kill everyone else to get off the island alive (and not necessarily in one piece.) This includes your friends and lovers - there can only be one survivor anyway.

The protagonist - Shuuya Nanahara refuses to accept that fact and tries to find a way to beat the system by finding others who also refuse to 'play the game' and try to get off the island alive.

There are many other cool characters too - a cool, silent gangster-type boy who seems more to me like a violent nerd than anything else., a 15-year-old whore without a conscience (very explicit images here eek) as well as some others.

Some scenes were depressing - you see people dying in very messy ways, witnessed by their own friends or lovers.

But after a while you get used to it and that in itself is scary. Desensitizing in progress.
twisted

Reading the first few chapters made me wonder what I'd do if it happened to me.
What if I were stranded on an island with nothing but a hunting knife - or god forbid, a piece of cutlery - and panic-driven classmates?

Would I simply try to kill everyone in sight or try to get out alive with everyone else - risking ALL our lives in the process?

I started making a mental note of who I'd kill first, if I'd have to.
rolleyes

And also the last people I'd still be with before deciding to kill each other to get out alive/commit suicide for those I love.

The whole thing was kinda emotionally-wrecking as you watch people who you thought were your friends turn on you and try to kill you out of desperation and sheer terror. The cold-blooded, detached people suddenly become apparent under these circumstances, and the noble sides of others start to shine.

Sigh.

It's such a cool book.

Can't wait to buy volumes 2 and 3.
4 and 5 have yet to be released.

The whole series is going to set me back roughly 350 bucks, but for 15 volumes of blood-soaked manga...that's not bad already. mrgreen

There isn't an anime series for it yet, but there IS a movie.
Shuuya is played by the boy who played Light Yagami in Death Note.
Somehow I don't think the casting was appropriate. neutral

But I'll let you know if I ever watch the movie.
cool

Battle Royale is worth a read, judging from what I've read so far.
Do check it out if you have the time and resources.

Not for the faint-hearted or pure though.
Lots of extremely graphic violence and sprinkles of porn here and there.
Hah. Swear I didn't know about it. *whistles*

And yet again...

...I come to the same conclusion: DotA is not good for your health!

Hahaha.
After a mere 2 games, tempers flew and innumerable taunts and insults were thrown around.

Wei Lim was emo cause he dc-ed and basically doomed my first game.

Don't know how many times he messaged me on ggc, msn and my phone to apologize. -_-
Overkill, lol. But then he thought I was pissed off and ignoring him when I was actually stuck in a horrible 90-minute game. Ha. So needy.

Nicky was emo because I left him talking to himself after I turned my speakers off in a fit of temper.

LOL.

zzz
i feel like i'm talkin to a awll
nvm bah
i've gtg in a sec neway
so jus in case u reli off-ed ur speakers
nitez stephy
next time u off ur speakers
give me a headsup k?
then i would at least not try tlakin to a wall lozl
made me look like an idiot thats tlakin to myself

Wtf hahahaha!
I was in the midst of a game and his Skype starting giving out so much static I couldn't stand it, so I switched the speakers off.
I can't tab out and lag the whole game just to end the call, right?

And there he was, apparently, talking to himself and wondering why I'm not replying except for the occasional curses and yells of indignance.

*vanishes to play 3rd game in a row*

[pause]

*returns*

Well, at least Max is still good fun to play with.
Nick said that Zerick was so happy that I've finally consented to allow him to play in the same game as me and that we are finally on civil terms again. (-_-)

...But I think Nick is bullshitting to try and foster friendly feelings between me and Zerick, haha. He is forever trying to make peace between the both of us - and I feel a tiny bit guilty that we're always at each others throats.

Only a tiny bit. rolleyes

Sherman pula has a temper similar to mine. evil
Bing! Bang! BOOM!

Played with Yun again today.
She's also nice to be with - not very pro, but is pretty nice to talk to.
biggrin

Ah.

After all that talk...suddenly I have nice feelings towards DotA again.
HAHA.

In a heated game, hidden sides of people that you hardly see will emerge.

"Walao, you should see this girl. When she plays she can scream and curse like God knows what man."

rolleyes

"Really? Nah, you're kidding me!"

rolleyes

"You ask her and see? When she gets angry all sorts of curses can come out of her mouth, damn scary man. She's even more violent than me."

rolleyes

"Are you serious?"

Me: rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

"...ohmygosh I didn't know you were like that!"

Most people that I've met online through playing DotA have definitely seen my ruder and more vulgar side.
When they find out how (relatively) quiet I am normally...aha. Haha. Ha.

Not necessarily quiet volume-wise, but I rarely flare up for the slightest reason like I do when I play.

And as for those people who know me normally and have never seen me play...ahaha.
Swarna also got a shock when Viv told her I was a very verbal person.
cool

It's like, even when a teacher asks me questions - I normally nod or shake my head if I can help it.
I don't even open my mouth to say 'yes' or 'no' or 'I don't know.'

And then while playing...BAM!
evil WTFCCBNOOBHAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII@$(&^@*#%@^#@

Bystander's reaction: eek

So, I guess although you can definitely see different aspects of a person's character while playing, you cannot judge the person solely on his/her attitude while gaming.

Oh, did I tell you that this guy I met at Jon's party recognized me from Ftz?
WTF I cannot hang out there so much any more. Sampai people can ID me. neutral

I think Viv and Ying and I are too loud.
mrgreen It is a known fact that females tend to be more vocal.

And being the socially-inept person that I am, I didn't even get his name after almost 4 hours of talking to him.

HAHAHA!

I had to message Sherman to ask pula.
Wtf I suck man! redface
I hope he didn't find out.
LOL.

*wiggles toes*

Did you know that rain makes your hair softer temporarily after it dries off?
biggrin I've always believed in that - and mom actually noticed that it was shinier the next day!
Now you know why I don't mind walking in the rain sometimes. smile

wink Acid rain ftw.

...I got a sore throat after sitting in the rain for nearly 3 bloody hours.
Siao. -_-

At first, the constant dripping was a bit annoying.

Then after a while you don't feel it anymore.
Except for a slight dampness.
(D'oh!)

Anyway, I think Jon enjoyed his party; Sherman did a good job.
biggrin

I particularly liked the apple-chomping.
HA.

It was the first time I ate a fruit in weeks.

More hands-on work ;D

Jon's birthday is tomorrow and his party's scheduled for tonight.

It's been a long time since any one I know has thrown a birthday party - or in this case, had one thrown for him - so I'm a bit rusty at thinking up ideas for presents. Normally I just take them out for cake and drinks and even if I buy presents - it's normally for girls.

And wtf, all my guy friends are no help either.

"Eh, what would you like to receive as a birthday present?"

"Eheheh, I don't know."
"Socks?"
"Erm..."
"No need to buy present one lar!"
"Cigarettes? Donno lar." *attention goes back to handphone *

mad So helpful, eh?

And I couldn't even make jewellery like I did for Viv.

So I made what I made for my sister years ago when I was a kid.

A notebook! ;D

I figured everyone could use a notebook.
Some like to take notes, some like to doodle, and some like to rip pages out to do their working for maths or whatever.

Last night, I asked Sherman what Jon's favourite colour is.
He said he doesn't know pula -_-
"...I think it's red?"

Actually, I had no intention to make anything for him. In fact, this morning at 10 I was supposed to wake up and follow my sister to KLCC to hunt down a present...but being me, I slept at 4 am and refused to get up. rolleyes

"Wake up! Aren't you coming?"

*mumblemumblestretch*
"I'll just make him something."

*rolls over*

Ironically, I couldn't go back to sleep after that. -_-

I spent roughly 15 minutes hunting down the tools I had in mind - I abandoned the idea of getting a compass after 5 minutes of unfruitful searching and drew free hand instead - then I chatted with Joshie for a while and got straight to work.

2 hours later:

Hahaha. Look at the mess!

Bahan-bahan yang diperlukan:

- Art block: Front and back cover
- A4 paper: Filler pages
- Swiss army knife: To cut the A4 papers in half
(Lazy to find a proper cutter, was so terrified of slicing myself - but apart from clipping a bit of flesh while sliding the blade back in, I'm completely unharmed. Phew.)

- Colour pencils: For colouring!
- o.1/o.6 mm felt tip pens: Outline and page numbering
- 2B pencil: Initial sketch
- Ruler: Help to draw and colour black border + star
- Red CD marker: Colour 'notebook'
(for lack of better tools)

- Scissors: To cut cool
- Glue: To glue secondary layer to the front cover to hide pen-marks that seeped through the front page
- Puncher: To punch holes for binding
- Red ribbon: To bind
- Cellophane tape: To tape the ends of the ribbon so I can thread it easily through the holes
- Silver marker: To colour the star and 'Jon's'

- Secondary moral notes booklet: The plastic cover of which I ripped off and cut to size razz

Whee. By the end of the two hours my wrist was shaking a bit - I have weak wrists. sad
That is my excuse for the pictures being slightly blur.
And also for my crap handwriting. mrgreen

Okay, I'm gonna save this as draft first and publish it later cause I want the birthday boy to see his present first.
Besides my mom (opinion,) maid (ironing out the ribbon) and sis (just wanna show, lol.)
...And god forbid, by some miracle he happens to discover his own surprise party. -_-''

*yawn*
I think I'm going to be all sleepy at the party later.
Maybe I'll go take a nap, just in case. biggrin

Otherwise, later they'll say looking at me makes them feel sleepy again, lol.
sad

Heehee!

Nicky is currently talking on the phone in rapid-fire hokkien! eek
I can understand!

Something about one Adam being lansi and challenging him to a DotA match tomorrow night at 10, blablabla, bring your best or we'll crush you.

Waraaooo, he sounds so serious. exclaim

And while he drones on and on in that exotic dialect I shall sit here and relieve my boredom by blogging nonsense! mrgreen

Today stupid Cloudy pawned me today in CS, and I was cheering Ying to KILL HIM! KILL CLOUDYYYY!

Then she actually did!

Me: YES! He diiiiiiieeeeeed!

ClouDeon: wtf why yes yes yes ah?
ClouDeon: can hear you all the way from here
snowbunnie: oh.
snowbunnie: oops ;D
ClouDeon: lol

Wtf, I'm telling you I can't judge the volume of my voice when the headphones are on. But the best is Viv la. There was once she died in DotA and she screamed loudly in apparent anguish (drama queen rolleyes), prompting lots of 'wtf is that you??' messages from the opponents who were scattered all over Ftz.

And I think there are more girls playing CS in Ftz now. biggrin Well, their screen names look terribly girly...but we'll never know, haha. (Unless I patrol the whole cyber cafe to satisfy my curiosity, hehe.)

They asked me to come and help them on their team, but I said I couldn't leave my bunnies alone. razz Bunnie family!
And I see more girls around too. ^_^v
We must work hard to pawn the boys, nyahaha!

But I still have a long way to go. sad
When I watch Viv's friends like Vic and Dan play, then look at myself...*shakes head*
Cannot make it, ahaha. Feikei queen!

Oh, and today was Viv's 18th birthday.

We went to Baker's Cottage and Starbucks during break, where Gary bought her an eclair and a drink...and served Ying and I 2 baby-sized cups of water.
*awkward silence*

That was a thoughtful gesture, but awkward nonetheless.
HAHA.

*Me looks at Ying, Ying looks at me.*
o_o''

Yes, that was meant to be gramatically incorrect. razz

I made her a present!
Mom taught me how to make jewellery, so I put those skills to good use.
I plan to make some for Ying and Swarna when I have the time.
wink Belated birthday presents - I didn't know them so well earlier in the year.

Pretty? mrgreen My first piece ever, so must take from every angle lor. The hook also wanna take, haha. redface

If you'd like some, I can make them for you at cost price + 1 bar of chocolate.
My offer stands until further notice.

biggrin Good night!
