Internet deprivation is a mental illness

My internet got cut off last Wednesday.
I came home and the modem just stared unblinkingly at me.

Well of COURSE it was unblinking - none of the lights were on, save for the power. = =

Anyway shortly after that, I became irritable and restless.
Then on Sunday morning I started feeling sick. Really, physically sick.
Sunday afternoon I started having a sore throat.
Monday morning it was full-blown flu.

I swear, I was the only person in the damned hall who was sneezing.
And sniffling.
And clearing my throat.
I think some people wanted to kill me for disturbing their Add Maths paper. =/

(Heyhey, to satisfy you evil people, I myself was unable to finish the paper, ok? *sick*)

Then Monday, after a LONG and ANNOYING process, the internet was fixed.

And hey presto, immediately my sniffling stopped!
My mood lifted.
My throat even felt less dry.
(But my head still felt light.)

And today I am nearly completely cured. ^^

I should sue TMnet for mental distress during a stressful period.

= =

My Add Maths and Sejarah paper = guaranteed fail.
I was unable to study over the weekend and Monday...thus resulting in me facing my Sejarah paper with only 3 chapters stored in my brain.

ARGHHH!!!

***

TMnet is hopeless.

They sent this guy over who promptly replaced the modem and was like 'TADAH it works now!'

It didn't.

He scratched his head and went around with this giant calculator-like machine to check the phone lines.

He then told me that I'd need to buy a splitter (microfilter) for the phone line because it was interrupting and disconnecting my internet.

I pointed out that my internet didn't work AT ALL, not that it was 'disrupted.'

He said fine, he'll go replace the port.

I informed him that the report was just replaced yesterday morning, but he said he'd try anyway. (I think he just wanted to get out of the house and away from my fury-radiating self.)

So he changed the port and called me.

"Sudah baiki. You cuba connect?"
"Ok."

10 seconds later.

"Masih rosak."
"Oh begitu, I tak boleh buat apa-apa. You panggil orang komputer datang periksa Network Card computer you."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

"Ok. Terima kasih..."

For nothing, I wanted to add.

So in conclusion, I waited 5 days - making calls everyday through my mom's poor secretary as my phone REFUSED to connect to TM's hotline - for him to tell me there's NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MODEM?

WTF!

So we called Dell.
They made me do the same thing as TM - run diagnostics and ping my IP.

Ping my IP!
I told them it worked, and they were like 'please tell us the packet loss rate blablabla...'

"There is 0% percent packet loss, ok? The ping went through."

Z, I'm not completely noob ok.
They were so condescending I felt like skewering them with a blunt pitchfork.
After 1 hour of holding the line and fiddling with some settings...

...they told me THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY NETWORK CARD and would I please call TMnet instead?

WTF x2!

Z. Leaving me with no choice, I called TM personally. (Gotta give Auntie Catherine a break)

And the call went through!
Miracle!

And this guy with a hot ang-moh accent patiently told me that my internet had been connected for over 2 hours.

Swt. -.-;

"But I cannot browse the internet..."
"Ok, hold on, let me check."

*waits*

"Your connection appears to have hung from our end. Please switch off your modem, unplug all the cables and I will terminate the connection. Then replug all the cables and turn on your modem and then you should be able to browse the internet!"
"Ooooh okay, thanks! Kay, I'll call back if there's any problem."
"Ok, thank you for calling TMnet!"
"Mmhmm..."

I scuttled off to do what he said and...presto!

...It didn't connect.

.
.
.

Reaching the limit of my patience, I called TMnet again, and got this guy who sounded like an SPM graduate working part-time (can they even hire part-timers?) - don't ask me how I could tell.

"I'm having a problem with my internet. It's connected but I can't browse."
"Please check your firewall, is it turned off?"
"Yeah. I think so..."
"Think so? You'd better check. Because if it's turned off then OBVIOUSLY you can browse the internet."
"Wait let me make sure...hold on, I'll find the thing..."
"I thought you said you turned it off? *snort*"
"...It is turned off."
"Are you sure?"
"YES I'm sure."
"Ok please turn off your modem, unplug the cables blablabla..."

Snarling, I did as he said.

"Is it working now?"
"Oh. It is. I dunno, the TMnet people who came just now couldn't fix it, so they asked me to call TM technical services..."
"They couldn't fix it? Were they TMnet people or telekom people?"
"TMnet."
"Are you sure it's our people? And they couldn't fix it? You didn't let a stranger in your house did you? Nowadays you know..."

I cut him off.

"Ok, it's working now thank you. But the lights are blinking...is anything wrong?"
"There are blinking lights?"

OMG I WANTED TO KILL HIM SO, SO MUCH.

He said it like one would say,

"Ok, how many fingers am I holding up now? Five? Are you sure? I think you're drunk."

Or

"Yes honey, I see the fairies too...Ok, I think you've had enough champagne now..."

"Yes, the LAN and ADSL one."
"They can't be blinking, cause OBVIOUSLY you're browsing the internet and it is IMPOSSIBLE to browse the internet while the link is unstable."
"... It's blinking."

You asshole, I wanted to add.

"Are you sure?"
"YES!"

Then it promptly stopped blinking.

"Oh. It stopped."
"See? Told you!"

I could almost see the gleeful smirk on his face.

GOD you have NO IDEA how much I wanted to kill him.

That sarcasm...zz it hurts.

'Why didn't you kill him with your own brand of sarcasm? '
I hear you asking.

...I was SICK ok? Please forgive my docile-ness.
Zzz... if I was in full form, I'd rip his brain out through the phone and shove it up his anus.

.
.
.

God I hate TMnet.
