The adorable 10-year-old boy I once loved to bits has turned into the epitome of all things I hate about guys.
I supplied him with most of the vocabulary, Zerick supplied the insults, Jie supplied the porn (which I never have and never will approve of,) and everyone else had a hand in encouraging/ignoring his growing crudeness.
Josh is now really irritating.
It's our fault, but I never expected him to turn out like this.
Some days he annoys me and some days it borders on full-blown frustration.
I think he understands the meaning of the words he uses, but does not understand the full implication of their usage.
As Nick said, he IS after all, merely 10. Still, we have to start correcting what we have done before it gets too late. =_=''
Truthfully, I can see a bit of every one of us in his behaviour now.

I hate continuous spamming so much you have no idea.
Even when everyone tells him to stop because it's annoying and makes some people's comps lag, he just laughs and keeps on doing it. He thinks it's extremely entertaining. He likes to nudge the clan chat too. Oh good lord. -_-
Occasionally I put up with their dirty talk because you know, boys will be boys. But the moment it crosses over to being derogatory, I tell them but they STILL think it's amusing.

Frankly, I find it disgusting.
I have told Nick to please try and help control Josh but he tells me he's already out of control - we've been treating too much like a teen and now he acts like he doesn't have to answer to anyone.
I'm not saying that they have turned into completely despicable people, however. They're still nice as people, but sometimes they just cross the line with the way they speak.
"Maybe it's because we're boys so we don't really care as much."
Oh, that line is infuriating.
I'm not saying that Josh should be reprimanded for swearing - I used to swear as a kid too - but he should learn how to control where and when he does it.
At the very least, show some respect for people's parents and the opposite gender, especially in the presence of one.
Sigh. A monster, indeed.
I forget how impressionable kids are at that age.
A mistake we all made, but what I'm hoping now is for the others to realise that and try to rectify it.
That's the least we could do.
God knows, Nick's mom is already pissed at us for being bad influences and doesn't want Josh hanging out with us anymore - at least, not while he's still so young.
I told Nick that that would be a good idea.
Maybe when he's not in our extremely damaging presence, he will gradually start to regulate his behaviour again.
Funny how something so seemingly insignificant to us can turn out to have bigger consequences.
Don't judge us based on how we speak to each other though, as long as it is tolerable by all parties within earshot, you don't have to right to tell us to stop. =/
